Precautions

This drug should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions (shock) from this drug, those who are hypersensitive to penicillin antibiotics, patients with infectious mononucleosis, and patients with lymphocytic lymphoma should not be administered this drug. Care should be taken when administering this medication to certain patients. For example, patients with allergies to cephalosporins, those with a family history of allergic predisposition, patients with severe kidney dysfunction, those who have difficulty with oral intake, elderly individuals, patients in poor general condition, those with heart failure, and patients with issues in the urinary tract or those receiving treatment for recurring urinary infections should exercise caution when using this drug. This drug may rarely cause serious side effects, so the patient's condition should be monitored closely during use. If symptoms of shock, discomfort, dizziness, or oral abnormalities occur, use should be discontinued immediately. Additionally, if allergic symptoms such as skin rash, hives, or joint pain appear, administration should cease and appropriate treatment should be sought. Within the gastrointestinal tract, nausea or vomiting may occur, and in severe cases, pseudomembranous colitis may develop, so if abdominal pain or diarrhea persists, consult a physician. Blood-related side effects such as a decrease in blood cell counts can occur rarely, and in such cases, administration should be stopped. Effects on the central nervous system may lead to anxiety, insomnia, behavioral changes, and, if serious symptoms such as aseptic meningitis develop, immediate treatment is required. Skin issues such as pruritus or serious cutaneous reactions may occur, so careful monitoring of skin conditions is necessary. It may also affect liver and kidney function, making regular testing important, and any abnormal signs should be reported immediately. This medication can cause secondary infections such as stomatitis or colitis, so caution is advised. Moreover, this drug can induce vitamin K deficiency, which may increase bleeding risk; therefore, elderly individuals or those with impaired kidney function should be especially cautious. Before using this medication, skin reaction tests should be conducted to check for allergies, and readiness for emergency treatment in case of shock is necessary during use. This drug may interact with other medications, so if other medications are currently being taken, it is crucial to inform healthcare providers. Care is particularly needed when taken with allopurinol, probenecid, oral contraceptives, certain antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications, and methotrexate. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the risks and benefits before using this drug, and those who are breastfeeding should also exercise caution. The safety of this drug in children, especially in low-birth-weight infants and neonates, has not been sufficiently confirmed, so special precautions are necessary. Elderly individuals, whose physiological functions may have declined, are at increased risk of side effects, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and closely monitored. This drug may affect some clinical lab test results, so it is best to inform healthcare providers before testing. In cases of overdose, kidney damage may occur, so it is important to adhere to appropriate dosing guidelines, and during high-dose administration, ensure adequate hydration and urination is maintained. When administered by injection, avoid intrathecal administration and minimize skin contact to prevent sensitization reactions.
