Precautions

This medication is a penicillin class antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial infections. It should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to beta-lactam antibiotics or those who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions. Particularly, caution is necessary for patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphoblastic leukemia due to the higher risk of adverse reactions such as rash. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice should consult their doctor before using this medication. For patients with compromised liver or kidney function, the concentration of this medication may increase, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted carefully. Patients who are allergic, elderly, or have gastrointestinal diseases should also be cautious as the likelihood of side effects may be higher. This medication can cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and in severe cases, serious intestinal conditions like pseudomembranous colitis may occur. If these symptoms appear, use should be stopped immediately, and medical attention should be sought. Liver enzyme levels may rise or jaundice symptoms may appear, especially reported more frequently in men over 60 years old. Long-term use of this medication for more than 14 days increases the risk of liver dysfunction, necessitating regular check-ups. Rarely, allergic reactions such as itching, skin rash, severe dermatitis, serum sickness symptoms, angioedema, reversible leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia, anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, eosinophilia, leukemia may occur; should these symptoms arise, medication use should be stopped immediately and directives from a physician should be followed. Central nervous system side effects may occur rarely, including anxiety, confusion, drowsiness, and seizures, and caution is required in patients with diminished kidney function or when administered in high doses. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should carefully consider the impact of using this medication on the fetus or infant and are particularly advised to avoid it during the first three months of pregnancy. This medication may interact with other drugs, particularly anticoagulants, anti-inflammatories, and other antibiotics, so it is important to inform healthcare professionals of any concurrent medications. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, electrolyte imbalances, and rarely kidney failure or seizures may occur, necessitating immediate treatment at a medical facility. Store in a sealed container to prevent moisture and keep in a cool place between 1 to 25 degrees Celsius. This will help maintain its efficacy for a longer period.
