This medication is used to improve the symptoms of adult patients with atherosclerotic diseases such as ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, and peripheral artery disease. Additionally, patients with acute coronary syndrome, such as unstable angina or non-Q wave myocardial infarction, can reduce the risk of death, myocardial infarction, and stroke caused by cardiovascular aberrations with the help of this drug. It is also effective for patients who have undergone coronary intervention or coronary artery bypass surgery to prevent cardiovascular abnormalities. In patients with atrial fibrillation who have vascular risk factors and where vitamin K antagonists are not suitable, if the risk of bleeding is low, this medication helps reduce the occurrence of strokes and thrombotic events. In other words, this medication is widely used to manage risk factors associated with vascular diseases and improve symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

1. For patients with ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, or peripheral arterial disease, administer clopidogrel 75 mg orally once daily. 2. Precautions

This drug is a medication that helps blood flow by preventing platelets from aggregating. This drug may be less effective in individuals with genetically reduced enzyme functions, increasing the risk of heart or vascular problems, so alternative treatment options should be considered in such cases. Additionally, co-administration with drugs that activate specific enzymes may increase the drug concentration and heighten the risk of bleeding, so it is advisable not to use them together. This drug is not administered to patients who are allergic to it, have bleeding issues, have severe liver damage, are nursing women, or have specific genetic conditions such as lactose intolerance. In patients at high risk of bleeding, this drug should be used with caution, and if surgery is planned, it should be discontinued 5-7 days prior to the surgery, and any bleeding symptoms should be reported to a doctor immediately. This drug may increase the risk of bleeding when used with other antiplatelet agents or anticoagulant drugs, so caution is warranted. In clinical trials, some patients taking this medication experienced various bleeding symptoms such as gastrointestinal bleeding, nosebleeds, skin bruises, hematouria, and rarely a decrease in blood cell counts has been reported. This drug can also cause side effects such as gastrointestinal disturbances, headaches, dizziness, and rashes, so any abnormal symptoms should be consulted with a doctor. The impact on the fetus during pregnancy is unclear; however, in cases of severe cardiovascular disease, treatment should not be delayed, and it is recommended to discontinue the drug to reduce the risk of bleeding before delivery. In nursing mothers, this drug may be excreted in breast milk, so a discussion with a doctor about whether to continue breastfeeding or discontinue the medication is necessary. Safety and efficacy in children have not been established, and for elderly patients or those with impaired kidney or liver function, careful dosage adjustment and observation are required due to the higher risk of bleeding. In cases of overdose, the risk of bleeding may increase, so if an overdose is suspected, immediate consultation with medical personnel is necessary, and if needed, interventions such as platelet transfusions should be administered. This drug should be stored out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container. During the use of this drug, if bleeding symptoms or adverse reactions appear, consult a doctor immediately, and be sure to inform medical personnel of its use before undergoing surgery or starting new medications.

Storage

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air or moisture. It is best stored at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C.
