Adult dose
In cases of mild to moderate infections such as recurrent tonsillitis, upper respiratory infections, lower respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections, administer Amoxicillin/Potassium Clavulanate at 25 mg/3.6 mg per kg of body weight daily divided into 2 doses. For moderate infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, and severe pulmonary infections like bronchopneumonia, administer Amoxicillin/Potassium Clavulanate at 45 mg/6.4 mg per kg of body weight daily.
Child dose
The 7:1 syrup is not suitable for infants under 2 months of age and pediatric patients with renal failure.

This medication is effective against various bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It is used for respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, empyema, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. It is also effective for urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis, as well as for gonorrhea and pelvic infections. In summary, this drug is used for the treatment of various respiratory, urinary, skin, and dental infections caused by multiple bacterial infections.

How to take

Adult dose

In cases of mild to moderate infections such as recurrent tonsillitis, upper respiratory infections, lower respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections, administer Amoxicillin/Potassium Clavulanate at 25 mg/3.6 mg per kg of body weight daily divided into 2 doses. For moderate infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, and severe pulmonary infections like bronchopneumonia, administer Amoxicillin/Potassium Clavulanate at 45 mg/6.4 mg per kg of body weight daily.

Precautions

This drug contains penicillin-class antibiotic components and should not be used in patients allergic to this ingredient or beta-lactam drugs. Particularly, it may be dangerous for patients who have previously experienced anaphylaxis or severe skin reactions. Increased risk of rash may occur in patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphoblastic leukemia. Patients with a history of liver function issues should use this medication with caution as liver damage may recur. This drug contains lactose; therefore, patients with lactose intolerance or specific genetic metabolic disorders should not take it. Patients with compromised liver or kidney function may require dosage adjustments and changes in administration intervals as drug concentrations may increase. Patients with allergies or at risk of vitamin K deficiency, as well as those with gastrointestinal diseases making drug absorption difficult, should also exercise caution. If symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, skin rash, or difficulty breathing occur during use, stop taking the medication and consult with a healthcare provider immediately. Prolonged use may lead to the development of resistant strains, so it is advisable to administer only for the necessary duration. Women in early pregnancy and those who are breastfeeding should use this medication cautiously, as it may cause diarrhea or hypersensitivity reactions in infants during breastfeeding. The elderly may be at increased risk of adverse effects due to decreased bodily function, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted while monitoring their condition. This drug may interact with other medications; if taking other drugs, inform the healthcare provider. Regular monitoring of liver function, kidney function, and blood tests during medication use is recommended. In case of overdose, symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, rash, and convulsions may occur, requiring immediate medical assistance. After use, store the drug in the refrigerator and consume all within 7 days post-preparation for safety.

Serious side effects

Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe allergic reactions, severe rashes with high fever, blisters, skin shedding, pain in mouth/eye mucosa, severe skin reactions, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities associated with cough and fever, respiratory issues, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), generalized lethargy, liver abnormalities (jaundice), sudden and unspecified reactions.

Mild side effects

Diarrhea, membranous colitis, dyspepsia, stomatitis, gastritis, glossitis, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, constipation, colonic pain, hyperacidity, loose stools, dry mouth, acute pancreatitis, candidiasis, antibiotic-associated colitis, severe colitis with blood in stool, nausea, elevated AST, ALT, ALP, LDH, serum bilirubin, hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice (rarely reported as fatal), itching, polymorphic exudative rash.
