Treatment of recurrent herpes labialis
This medication is used for the treatment of recurrent herpes labialis in adults with normal immune function.
For adults, the medication is attached to the upper gum. Apply this medication within 1 hour of the onset of prodromal symptoms and before the emergence of lesions. After taking the medication out of the blister pack, attach it with dry fingers, press lightly from the outside of the lips for 30 seconds to secure it to the upper incisor (canine) gum. It should be attached to the same side as the oral area, and it can also be attached to the inside of the lips instead of the gums. Food and drink can be consumed.
This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic or have had hypersensitivity to this medication itself, its ingredients, or valacyclovir. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with genetic metabolic disorders such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. During the use of this medication, neurological symptoms such as headache or dizziness may occur, and pain or irritation at the application site may also happen. Nausea, oral inflammation, gum pain, and skin rashes have also been reported rarely. If accidentally swallowed, it is advisable to drink water. There is no experience of use in immunocompromised patients, and there is a risk of developing resistant viruses, so it is safer not to use this medication in immunodeficient patients. Although there is insufficient research on interactions with other medications, caution is required when using this medication with other drugs that share renal excretion pathways, as acyclovir is excreted via the kidneys. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only when the benefit of treatment outweighs the risks, and nursing mothers should also exercise caution when using this medication. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been adequately established, so it is advisable not to use it in children. This medication has a low risk even in cases of overdose since systemic absorption is minimal, but it is important to adhere to the prescribed dosage. Finally, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children, stored in a cool and dry place, and not transferred to another container to maintain the quality of the medication.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air or moisture and should be kept at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage helps maintain the effectiveness of the medication for a longer period.
