Relief of allergy symptoms such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and chronic urticaria
This medication is used for seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and pruritus. It also helps alleviate symptoms of eczema and dermatitis. The effectiveness can be enhanced when used in conjunction with hydrocortisone topical agents. Overall, it is used to improve allergy and skin inflammation symptoms.
Adults and children 6 years and older should receive Cetirizine Hydrochloride 10 mg orally once daily before bedtime. For patients sensitive to side effects, it can be split into 5 mg doses administered in the morning and evening. The dosage can be increased or decreased according to age and symptoms, and for patients with renal impairment, the dosage interval and amount should be adjusted based on renal function.
Children 6 years and older should receive Cetirizine Hydrochloride 10 mg orally once daily before bedtime. For pediatric patients with renal impairment, dosage should be adjusted individually based on the patient's renal clearance rate and weight.
This medication should not be taken by individuals allergic to any specific component or those who are hypersensitive. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and children under 6 years of age should not use this medication. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take it. While taking this medicine, it should not be combined with certain medications, such as theophylline or ritonavir. As this medication is secreted in small amounts in breast milk, it is safer to refrain from breastfeeding during treatment. Additionally, taking this medication with alcohol may exacerbate side effects, so it should be avoided. Patients with reduced kidney or liver function, the elderly, patients with epilepsy, and those at risk of seizures should consult healthcare professionals before taking this medication. This medication may affect urine output; therefore, patients with conditions causing difficulty in urination should exercise caution. In cases of overdose, various side effects such as confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, rapid heartbeat may occur and immediate consultation with a medical facility is necessary. During treatment, various side effects can occur, including drowsiness, headaches, digestive disorders, skin rashes, or abnormal liver function. Patients should consult healthcare professionals if any unusual symptoms appear. It is advisable to stop taking this medication several days before an allergy test, and caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery. Taking it with food may slow the absorption rate of the drug but does not significantly affect its efficacy. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container.
