This medication helps to prevent and manage asthma. It also relieves symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. Therefore, it is effectively used for the management of asthma and allergic rhinitis.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older should take 10 mg of Montelukast orally once daily. Patients with asthma and allergic rhinitis should take 1 tablet, 1 pack, or 1 dose in the evening once daily. This medicine should be administered one hour before meals or two hours after meals.

Children's dosage

Children aged 6 to 14 years should chew 5 mg of Montelukast once daily or place it on the tongue and let it dissolve or disintegrate without water. Children aged 2 to 5 years should take 4 mg of Montelukast once daily.

Precautions

This medicine contains the artificial sweetener aspartame and must not be taken by patients with the hereditary condition phenylketonuria.
