Adult dose
Adults and children over 6 years old should take 10 mg of cetirizine hydrochloride orally once daily before bedtime. Patients sensitive to adverse effects may take 5 mg in the morning and evening. For patients with renal impairment, dosage and dosing interval should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance. Normal (≥80 mL/min) and mild (50-79 mL/min) are 10 mg once daily; moderate (30-49 mL/min) is 5 mg once daily.
Child dose
Children over 6 years old should take 10 mg orally once daily before bedtime, the same as adults. For children with renal impairment, the dosage should be adjusted individually considering the patient's renal clearance and body weight.

This medication is used to improve seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and pruritus such as skin itching.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children over 6 years old should take 10 mg of cetirizine hydrochloride orally once daily before bedtime. Patients sensitive to adverse effects may take 5 mg in the morning and evening. For patients with renal impairment, dosage and dosing interval should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance. Normal (≥80 mL/min) and mild (50-79 mL/min) are 10 mg once daily; moderate (30-49 mL/min) is 5 mg once daily.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who are hypersensitive to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, pregnant or possibly pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and children under 6 years of age should not take this medication. During treatment, this medication should not be taken with certain drugs, such as theophylline or ritonavir, as they may alter the effectiveness or the body concentration of the medication. It is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding during treatment, and excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided. Taking alcohol with this medication may affect the central nervous system. Individuals with weakened kidney or liver function, the elderly, patients with epilepsy, and those at risk of urinary retention should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. In case of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, dizziness, drowsiness, rapid heartbeat, and urinary retention may occur. If these symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. This medication may cause drowsiness, headache, dyspepsia, skin rash, and abnormal liver function, so consult a specialist if these symptoms occur. It is advisable to temporarily withhold this medication before undergoing allergy tests, and care should be taken when driving or operating machinery. Keep this medication out of reach of children, and store it in the original container to maintain quality.
