This medication is used to improve symptoms of difficulty in sputum expulsion associated with acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

How to take

Adult dose

Acute illness: 200 mg once, three times a day Chronic illness: 200 mg once, twice a day

Child dose

Acute illness (ages 6 to 14): 200 mg once, twice a day Chronic illness (ages 6 to 14): 100 mg once, three times a day Cystic fibrosis (ages 6 and older): 200 mg once, three times a day

Precautions

This medicine should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to this medication or its components. Patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should also avoid this medication. Children under two years of age should not take this medicine. Since this medicine contains lactose, individuals with a hereditary condition that prevents lactose digestion should not take it. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant must consult a physician before taking this medicine. It is also important for breastfeeding women to consult an expert before taking this medication, as it is not accurately known whether this drug passes into breast milk. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, oral inflammation, heartburn, or diarrhea occur during use, it is important to immediately stop taking the medication and consult a specialist. Also, caution is needed as allergic reactions such as hives, itching, rash, headaches, tinnitus, and bronchospasm may occur in asthma patients. Rarely, increased heart rate or elevated blood pressure may occur, and very rarely, a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis may happen. If breathing difficulties occur, immediately stop taking the medication and consult medical personnel. When taking this medication with other oral antibiotics, it is advisable to take them at least 2 hours apart to avoid reducing the effectiveness of the antibiotic. Additionally, avoid mixing other medications in the solution of this drug. This medicine should be stored out of the reach of children in a safe place and should preferably be kept in its original packaging. Transferring to another container can decrease the quality of the medication or lead to misuse, so caution must be exercised.
