Moderate to severe pain relief and antipyretic effect
This medication is used as an adjunct therapy to control moderate to severe pain in conjunction with opioid analgesics. It also has antipyretic effects and helps to reduce fever. Therefore, it is used for effective treatment in both pain relief and fever control.
Adults can be administered up to a maximum of 3200 mg per day. (1) Adjunct therapy for controlling moderate to severe pain with opioid analgesics (morphine) ⦁ Adults (aged 17 years and older): 400 mg-800 mg intravenously every 6 hours as needed. A maximum of 3200 mg can be administered per day. Administration time should be more than 30 minutes. (2) Antipyretic ⦁ Adults (aged 17 years and older): 400 mg intravenously every 4-6 hours as needed.
(2) Antipyretic ⦁ For pediatric patients (aged 6 months to less than 17 years) for fever: - For ages 6 months to under 12 years: Start from 10 mg/kg per dose (maximum 400 mg) intravenously every 4-6 hours as needed.
This drug can affect heart and vascular health, so it should be used with caution in individuals with cardiovascular disease or risk factors. The potential for serious issues like heart attack or stroke may arise during treatment, so patients should closely monitor symptoms. There is a risk of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers, so caution is advised for those with a history of gastrointestinal disorders or the elderly. If gastrointestinal-related adverse effects occur, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary. This medication should not be used in patients with gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers, severe blood disorders, or significant liver, kidney, or heart dysfunction. Patients with a history of allergic reactions or asthma should avoid this drug. It should not be used in late pregnancy as it may harm the fetus. It is safest not to use this drug with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Patients with hypertension or heart failure should closely monitor blood pressure and heart condition while taking this medication. Patients with impaired kidney function should be cautious, as taking the drug in a dehydrated state may lead to kidney damage. Patients with liver dysfunction or a history of liver disease should carefully monitor liver function while taking this medication. Anemia may appear in blood tests, so it is necessary to check blood status during prolonged use. This drug may cause allergic reactions, so if symptoms like rash or difficulty breathing occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and healthcare professionals informed. This drug may mask infection symptoms, so caution is warranted when diagnosing suspected infections. Taking it with aspirin or other anticoagulants may increase the risk of bleeding, so one should consult with a physician. This drug may interact with specific medications, so it is essential to inform healthcare professionals of any other drugs being taken. Pregnant or nursing women should consult with a healthcare provider before using this medication and particularly avoid it during the later stages of pregnancy. Safety has not been established for infants under 6 months so use is discouraged in this age group. Elderly patients may experience decreased physical function, necessitating dose adjustments and regular monitoring. Overdose may result in serious side effects such as dizziness, vomiting, liver dysfunction, and kidney failure, so the prescribed dosage must be strictly followed. If an overdose is suspected, immediate medical attention should be sought.
