View approved original text

This medication is primarily used to lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. It is also effective for heart failure patients who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors (NYHA Class II to IV). It helps to reduce the risk of mortality in patients with left ventricular dysfunction or decreased contractility after myocardial infarction. Thus, this medication is useful not only for the treatment of hypertension and heart failure but also for the prevention of complications after myocardial infarction.

Individuals allergic to this medication, pregnant women or women of childbearing potential, nursing mothers, patients with severe liver or kidney disease, and those with a history of certain angioedema should not take this medication. Elderly patients or those with hyperkalemia, mild to moderate liver dysfunction, and patients with cardiovascular conditions should use this medication cautiously, especially since blood pressure may drop rapidly, thus it is recommended to start with a low dose and monitor the condition closely. During treatment, side effects such as headache, dizziness, cough, diarrhea, and fatigue may occur. Rarely, serious adverse reactions such as angioedema, renal impairment, and hyperkalemia may also occur, so consult a doctor immediately if any unusual symptoms occur. If blood pressure becomes too low or if severe dizziness or syncope occurs, the medication should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be sought, and it is important to regularly monitor kidney function and electrolyte levels during use. Additionally, taking this medication with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements may lead to dangerously high blood potassium levels, so such combinations should be avoided or carefully managed. This drug may interact with other antihypertensives or certain anti-inflammatory analgesics, so if other medications are being taken, it is essential to inform the healthcare provider.
