This medication assists in reducing the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular surgery, and angina in adults with cardiovascular disease risk factors and patients with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, in patients with coronary artery disease, it also lowers the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke as well as the risk of hospitalization due to congestive heart failure. In patients with hyperlipidemia, it effectively reduces total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo-B protein, and triglyceride levels while increasing HDL-cholesterol levels. It is especially used as an adjunctive therapy in patients with hyperlipidemia and dyslipidemia who do not respond adequately to dietary therapy. It also assists in lowering total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels in pediatric patients aged 10 to 17 with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. This medication is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and improve blood lipid levels.

Precautions

This medication may cause muscle abnormalities, so if severe muscle pain or weakness occurs, or if there is a significant increase in creatine kinase levels, discontinue use immediately. Patients with risk factors such as kidney problems, severe infections, or after major surgery should also use it cautiously or temporarily discontinue usage. Do not take this medication if there is an allergic reaction to this drug or its components, if there are severe liver function issues, or if there are muscle diseases present. Pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, nursing mothers, children under 10 years of age, and patients taking certain medications should avoid using it. Patients with alcohol addiction or a history of liver disease, the elderly, and those with decreased kidney function should use this medication carefully and frequently check their muscle health. Regular liver function tests and muscle-related tests should be performed during use, and if symptoms of hepatitis, skin rashes, or severe allergic reactions occur, consult a doctor immediately. This medication has many interactions with other drugs, so particularly when taking certain antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, some blood pressure medications, and blood glucose medications, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist and dosage adjustments may be necessary. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use it, and women of childbearing age should use appropriate contraception during treatment. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so treatment should be based on symptoms while closely monitoring liver function and muscle status. Keep out of reach of children and store in the original container.
