This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins. Special caution is needed for patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia due to a higher risk of rashes. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice should also be cautiously considered before use. Patients with impaired liver function or moderate to severe renal impairment may have increased drug concentration, necessitating careful dosage adjustments and administration intervals. Patients with allergic tendencies, elderly patients, or those in poor general condition should also be closely monitored for adverse reactions. Severe vomiting or diarrhea may impair proper absorption of the drug. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and in rare cases, serious issues like pseudomembranous colitis or acute pancreatitis may occur. If any adverse symptoms manifest, its use should be immediately discontinued and a physician consulted. Symptoms of liver dysfunction have also been reported; thus, continuous liver function testing during treatment or after discontinuation is vital, especially in the elderly or males. Allergic reactions can cause skin rashes, urticaria, and, rarely, serious skin diseases or anaphylactic shock, necessitating immediate discontinuation of the drug if symptoms appear. Hematological side effects such as leukopenia and thrombocytopenia have been rarely reported, which may lead to bleeding tendencies. Central nervous system symptoms such as drowsiness, anxiety, and seizures may occur rarely, and renal dysfunction has also been reported, thus regular monitoring is required. This drug can alter the intestinal flora, affecting the efficacy of other medications; therefore, it should be taken as directed by a physician, especially when used in conjunction with oral contraceptives or anticoagulants. It is advisable to avoid use during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester, and caution is needed during breastfeeding as adverse effects may occur in infants. It is not recommended for children, especially those under 12 years of age or weighing less than 40 kg. In the elderly, there is a higher risk of side effects due to reduced body function, and caution is necessary due to bleeding risks secondary to vitamin K deficiency. Overdosing of this medication may result in gastrointestinal symptoms, renal failure, neural abnormalities, and in suspicion of overdose, treatment should be halted immediately and appropriate medical care obtained.
