In cases of severe and respiratory infections, the dose can be increased to 500 mg/125 mg once. In cases of renal impairment, the dosing should be adjusted according to the creatinine clearance. - For creatinine clearance 10 - 30 mL/min, 25 mg of Amoxicillin should be taken orally every 12 hours.
Children's dosage

This medication is effective against various bacterial infections. It is used to treat respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar pneumonia, and bronchopneumonia, and is also helpful in treating tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. It is used for urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis, as well as pelvic inflammatory disease and sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea. Additionally, it is effective in treating boils, abscesses, soft tissue infections, and wound infections, and is effective against osteomyelitis and dental infections. This medication also shows activity against various resistant strains, including those producing beta-lactamase. Overall, it is widely used in the treatment of various bacterial infections.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

For adults and children aged 12 or older or weighing 40 kg or more: Amoxicillin/Potassium Clavulanate at a dose of 250 mg/125 mg, taken orally 3 times a day every 8 hours. This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients who have difficulty taking oral medications, are receiving non-oral nutrition, elderly patients, or those in poor general condition should use this medication carefully, as vitamin K deficiency may occur. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases such as vomiting or diarrhea should be cautious, as drug absorption may be impaired. When taking this medication, if symptoms like diarrhea, abdominal pain, or bloody stools occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and medical advice should be sought. Elderly patients or male patients, as well as those on long-term use for more than 14 days, should regularly check liver function as abnormalities may arise. If skin rashes or severe allergic reactions occur, the medication should be stopped immediately, and treatment should be sought as per a doctor’s instructions. Blood tests may rarely show abnormalities such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, or anemia, so patients should consult with medical staff if unusual symptoms arise. Rarely, central nervous system symptoms such as anxiety, confusion, dizziness, or seizures may occur, so patients should inform promptly if symptoms arise. Regular tests are needed for kidney function, as issues may develop; if abnormalities are found, the medication should be discontinued. This medication can interact with other drugs, so caution is needed, especially when taking anticoagulants, anti-inflammatory drugs, or oral contraceptives. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant are advised not to use this medication during the first three months, and nursing mothers should also be cautious as adverse reactions may occur in the baby. It is recommended to use this medication only for children aged 12 years or older or those weighing over 40 kg. Elderly patients should observe dosage and dosing intervals carefully due to the increased risk of side effects due to decreased bodily function.

Serious side effects

Urticaria, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe allergic reactions, high fever with severe rash, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, severe skin reactions, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, asthma attacks, respiratory issues accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice, severe lethargy, liver abnormalities (jaundice), sudden and severe headache.

Mild side effects

Diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis, dyspepsia, stomatitis, gastritis, glossitis, black hairy tongue, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, colonic pain, acidity, loose stools, dry mouth, candidiasis, bloody stools, itching, erythema multiforme, rash (including skin rash), angioedema, serum sickness-like symptoms (fever, arthralgia, lymphadenopathy, measles-like rash, etc.), hypersensitivity vasculitis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, bronchospasm, hypotension symptoms.
