View approved original text

This medication is a perfusate used in artificial kidney dialysis for patients with acute and chronic renal failure and acute drug poisoning. It helps remove waste products from the body and maintain electrolyte balance in cases of impaired kidney function. This drug purifies the blood in place of kidney function, thereby improving the patient's condition.

How it is given

Adult administration

(Dilution ratio of this solution 1 : B Dry (powder) 1.1 : Purified water 32.9) is used as a perfusate for hemodialysis utilizing a bicarbonate-type dialysis solution supply device. Dialysis time, frequency, and perfusion volume should be determined according to the patient's condition and the type of artificial kidney used.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with low blood pressure and rapid heart rate. Patients with cardiac issues or pulmonary edema should also avoid administration. It should not be used in patients with high potassium levels or blood coagulation disorders. Caution is advised when prescribing to patients with severely impaired liver function or severe diabetes. Additionally, patients taking digitalis, a heart medication, should be monitored as low potassium levels can increase the risk of drug toxicity. During the use of this medication, blood sugar may suddenly decrease or increase, so changes in blood sugar should be closely monitored. When blood sugar is low, sugar should be provided or glucose injections given, and when blood sugar is high, non-glucose dialysis solutions should be used. Weight gain or increases in blood pressure may occur due to increased fluid intake from thirst, so fluid management is necessary. Low calcium levels may cause cramps or discomfort, and switching to high-calcium dialysis solutions or administering calcium supplements may be required. Osteoporosis or bone weakening may occur, so it is advisable to administer vitamin D3 supplements concurrently. Moreover, abnormal calcium deposits may develop, necessitating treatment to maintain serum phosphorus levels within the normal range. Symptoms such as headaches, nausea, vomiting, cramps, and confusion may arise during dialysis, and in such cases, adjustments to the dialysis intensity may be necessary. Cardiovascular problems may lead to sudden drops in blood pressure or shock, so if symptoms appear, dialysis should be stopped, and appropriate treatment must be administered. This medication is used for blood dialysis in chronic renal failure patients as a substitute when acidic dialysis solutions are ineffective or cause severe side effects. It is suitable for patients who find blood sugar control difficult with dialysis solutions containing glucose. Low potassium, calcium, and magnesium dialysis solutions are used in patients with hyperkalemia or hypercalcemia. Regular blood tests to monitor electrolytes, acid-base balance, and blood glucose are important. Pregnant women or women of childbearing age should only use this medication when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. Safety for children has also not been established, so caution is warranted. Elderly patients should understand the characteristics of this medication well and use it carefully, as prolonged use may result in bone-related complications; therefore, regular check-ups and administration of vitamin D3 supplements are necessary. The dialysis diluent should be kept in a sealed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture and must be stored between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius to maintain its effectiveness.
