Treatment of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, alleviation of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and maintenance therapy effect
This medication is used to treat ulcers in the stomach and duodenum, alleviate symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, and manage the condition long-term. It is also used in combination with antibiotics to treat gastrointestinal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. It is effective in controlling excessive gastric acid secretion in patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome to improve symptoms. This medication helps to comprehensively treat gastrointestinal disorders and alleviate symptoms.
Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer: Typically, 10 mg is administered orally once a day. Depending on symptoms, 20 mg may be taken orally once a day. Usually given for 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: Administer 10 mg or 20 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. If not improved after 8 weeks of treatment, an additional 8 weeks of 10 mg or 20 mg can be given.
This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic or have a history of hypersensitivity to specific ingredients. Additionally, caution is needed when taking it with certain antibiotics or other medications, and it should not be administered to pregnant or nursing women. Patients with impaired liver function or the elderly should use this medication with increased caution, and those with a history of drug hypersensitivity should also be careful. If symptoms such as rash or itching occur during treatment, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Regular blood tests and liver function tests should be performed, and if abnormalities are found, appropriate actions must be taken. Side effects may occur in various parts of the body including the heart, digestive system, nervous system, respiratory system, and skin, so consultation with healthcare providers is necessary if symptoms arise. Long-term use may increase the risk of bone fractures; thus, caution is advised for prolonged periods of use. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, which may increase the risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract, so notify healthcare providers if symptoms such as diarrhea persist. Caution is advised as this may cause drowsiness when driving or operating machinery. It may interact with other medications, so be sure to inform healthcare providers of any medications currently being taken. It is safest not to use this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily due to declining liver function, so they should discontinue use or consult healthcare providers if symptoms occur. Safety in children has not been established, so it should not be used in pediatric patients. There is no specific antidote for overdose, and treatment and supportive care according to symptoms are necessary. This medication should not be chewed or crushed but should be swallowed whole in tablet form, and it should be stored out of reach of children.
