Precautions

This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients allergic to penicillin or cephalosporin drugs. Special caution is needed for patients with a history of severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, or shock. Avoid use in patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia as the risk of rash may increase. Caution is advised in patients with liver dysfunction or a history of jaundice due to the risk of recurrence. In patients with liver impairment or severe renal impairment, dosing intervals should be adjusted as drug concentrations may increase. Patients with allergic constitution or those easily showing symptoms like bronchial asthma, rash, or urticaria should also be cautious. Patients who have difficulty swallowing, elderly patients, or those in poor general conditions should be observed for the risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency. Patients with gastrointestinal disorders such as vomiting or diarrhea should be cautious as drug absorption may be inadequate. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, gastritis, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and rarely may cause pseudomembranous colitis or acute pancreatitis. Liver function abnormalities may occur, more frequently reported in the elderly or males, and treatment should be discontinued if symptoms appear. Severe skin reactions such as itching, rash, and mucosal syndrome may occur rarely, and the use of the drug should be stopped immediately if abnormal symptoms arise. Hematologic abnormalities such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia are rarely reported, and regular blood tests may be needed. Central nervous system symptoms such as anxiety, confusion, seizures may occur, and the risk of seizures increases in patients with renal dysfunction. Acute renal failure or interstitial nephritis are rarely observed, so renal function should be periodically monitored. Disruption of normal flora due to antibiotic use may result in oral mucositis or candidiasis, necessitating appropriate management upon symptom onset. Bleeding tendency due to vitamin K deficiency should be closely monitored for signs of hemorrhage. To prevent bacterial resistance, it is advisable to conduct susceptibility testing and use for the minimum necessary duration. Allergic reactions, especially anaphylaxis, may occur rarely, thus patient condition should be closely monitored after administration. In case of worsening gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea or abdominal pain, stop the medication immediately and seek medical attention. Long-term use may lead to overgrowth of resistant strains, so caution is advised if used for over 14 days. Liver function testing abnormalities may occur, patients with impaired liver function should be cautiously administered. This drug is mainly excreted through the kidneys, so dosage adjustments are necessary in patients with reduced renal function. If infectious mononucleosis is suspected, it is advisable to avoid use of this drug. If symptoms like urticaria, skin rash, or serum sickness appear, discontinue use and follow medical guidance. Regular monitoring of kidney, liver, and hematopoietic function is recommended during prolonged use. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms and renal failure, seizures may occur; consult healthcare providers immediately, and if needed, blood dialysis may be required. It is safest not to administer during the first three months of pregnancy, and caution is advised during breastfeeding as side effects may appear in infants. Use is not recommended for children under 12 years of age or weighing less than 40kg due to limited experience. Elderly patients may present with abnormal reactions more easily due to decreased physiological function, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and carefully monitored. Inform your physician when undergoing certain clinical tests, as this medication may affect some test results. Drug interactions may occur when combined with other medications, so it is important to inform healthcare providers of any concurrent medications.
