This medication is effective against bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. It is mainly used to treat recurrent or persistent acute otitis media and acute sinusitis in pediatric patients. It is particularly suitable for children under 2 years old who have had antibiotic treatment within the last 3 months or for children attending daycare centers. This medication helps improve infection symptoms in children with risk factors. It is effectively used for treating children's acute otitis media and sinusitis.

How to take

Adult dose

There is no experience of using this medication in adults. To minimize the possibility of gastrointestinal disturbances, it should be administered at the beginning of meals. Administering this medication at the beginning of meals increases the absorption of clavulanate potassium.

Child dose

Children over 3 months: Based on an amoxicillin content of (600 mg/5 mL), administer 90 mg/kg/day divided into doses every 12 hours. For acute otitis media, administer for 10 days, for acute sinusitis, administer for 7 days.

Precautions

This medicine contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which metabolizes into phenylalanine in the body, so it should not be used in patients with phenylketonuria. Patients who have had an allergic reaction to this drug or who have had an allergy to beta-lactam antibiotics, patients with infectious mononucleosis, lymphocytic leukemia, and those with a history of liver dysfunction should not use this medication. Patients with poor liver function or moderate to severe kidney impairment should use this medication with caution, and patients with allergies, the elderly, or those with gastrointestinal diseases should also be cautious. This medication can cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and a variety of side effects such as abnormal liver function, severe allergic reactions, blood abnormalities, and kidney disorders may occur, so if any abnormal symptoms occur, consult a doctor immediately.
