Treatment effect for respiratory infections and urinary tract infections
This medication is used to treat infections caused by various bacteria. It is particularly effective against several harmful bacteria including Escherichia coli, Shigella, and Salmonella. It is suitable for the treatment of respiratory infections excluding acute bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia, and it is also used for infections of the ear, nose, and throat. Furthermore, it helps with bacterial prostatitis, acute urinary tract infections, gonococcal cervicitis and urethritis, gastrointestinal infections, and infections of bile ducts. It is used to treat bacterial infections in various sites including skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, gynecological infections, and peritonitis; however, its use prior to surgery is restricted. As a fluoroquinolone, there is a possibility of serious adverse reactions in some cases, hence it is used only when there are no alternative treatments for certain infections. This medication is useful for effectively treating various bacterial infections.
250 to 500 mg orally twice a day between meals. In cases of severe complicated infections, the dose may be increased to 750 mg twice a day. For acute infections, treatment is usually for 5 to 10 days, and even after symptoms resolve, the medication should be administered for at least 3 additional days. Patients with renal impairment should adjust the dosage according to creatinine clearance, and patients undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis should take 250 to 500 mg after each dialysis session.
This medication may cause serious adverse effects such as tendinitis or tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system problems, so caution is advised. In particular, patients with severe myasthenia gravis may experience worsening symptoms with this medication and should not use it. If serious adverse effects occur, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a doctor. This medication should be used restrictively for certain infections and is safe only when there are no alternative treatments available. Elderly patients, those with reduced kidney function, and patients with a history of seizures should use this medication cautiously as they are at higher risk of side effects. It is safe to avoid this medication if pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as in growing children under 18 years of age and patients with epilepsy. This medication can interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications. If symptoms such as muscle pain, tendon pain, visual disturbances, mental changes, or severe diarrhea occur during treatment, consult medical personnel immediately. Photosensitivity reactions may occur, so avoid strong sunlight or UV exposure, and discontinue the medication if symptoms arise. Patients with diabetes who require blood sugar control should closely monitor blood sugar fluctuations, and seek immediate treatment if hypoglycemic symptoms appear. This medication requires caution during driving or operating machinery, and symptoms may worsen if taken with alcohol. In cases of overdose, kidney function should be closely monitored, and appropriate emergency measures should be taken if necessary. This medication has not established safety in children and adolescents, so it is recommended not to use it. When storing, keep out of reach of children and avoid direct sunlight or UV exposure.

This medication may be sensitive to air or moisture; therefore, it must be stored in a tightly sealed container. Additionally, to maintain the drug's effectiveness, it is essential to store it at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius.
