How to take

Adult dose

Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older should take Montelukast as a single oral dose of 10 mg once daily. Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis. While taking this medication, there may be rare serious neuropsychiatric adverse effects, so patients and caregivers should immediately inform a doctor if symptoms such as restlessness, aggression, anxiety, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts occur. Patients with allergic reactions to this medication or hypersensitivity to its components should not take it. This medication is not for the treatment of acute asthma attacks, so appropriate emergency medication must always be kept and used when acute symptoms occur. Inhaled corticosteroids should not be abruptly discontinued or replaced with this medication; dosage should be gradually adjusted as per a doctor’s instructions. Do not use this medication alone for exercise-induced bronchospasm; inhaled beta-agonists should continue to be used if necessary. Patients with hypersensitivity to aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should avoid those medications while taking this drug. Rare serious side effects like eosinophilia and vasculitis may occur when taking this medication, so the physician should carefully monitor the patient's condition. There have been no reports of specific interactions with other medications, but caution may be needed when used with certain liver enzyme inducers. If pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a physician before use; data concerning effects on fetuses or neonates is limited. Children and the elderly can use this medication, but safety and efficacy may vary by age, so dosing should be done according to a doctor's advice. In the case of overdose, no specific antidote is available, and general symptom management and monitoring are needed. This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be taken immediately after opening and kept out of reach of children. This medication should be taken consistently, even if asthma symptoms are absent, and if symptoms worsen or unusual symptoms occur, consult healthcare personnel immediately.
