Treatment of inflammation of the external and anterior segments of the eye (blepharitis, conjunctivitis, etc.)
This medication is used to treat various inflammatory diseases that occur in the outer and inner parts of the eye. The 0.02% eye drop is effective for external inflammatory conditions such as blepharitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, scleritis, and episcleritis. The 0.1% eye drop can be used not only for external conditions but also for anterior segment inflammation and postoperative inflammation such as iritis, iridocyclitis, and uveitis. It helps alleviate symptoms associated with these various eye inflammations.
Instill 1-2 drops at a time, 2-4 times a day. Adjust the dosage appropriately based on symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients with viral conjunctival diseases, fungal eye diseases, mycobacterial infections, chronic blepharitis, or those who are hypersensitive to the drug. It is generally not recommended for patients with corneal epithelial desquamation or ulcers, tuberculous or purulent eye diseases, glaucoma patients, and infants under 2 years of age; if it must be used, it should be administered very cautiously. Long-term use may lead to increased intraocular pressure or glaucoma, and damage to the optic nerve such as vision loss, so regular intraocular pressure checks are necessary. Additionally, the worsening of herpetic keratitis, fungal infections, or infections may occur, and there is a risk of corneal perforation, so appropriate treatment is necessary if infection symptoms are present. Long-term use may result in posterior cataract or secondary eye infections, necessitating caution. During acute purulent eye infections, the use of this drug may mask or worsen symptoms, so caution is required. This medication contains phosphate and may occasionally cause corneal calcification in patients with severe corneal damage. Post-cataract surgery, wound healing may be delayed or blisters may form, and long-term use may lead to decreased pituitary and adrenal function. If hypersensitivity symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately. If infected with chickenpox or measles while using this medication, it can lead to serious consequences, so medical history and vaccination status must be checked prior to administration to minimize infection risk. Caution is advised when using on reddened eyes without a physician's diagnosis, as there is a risk of blindness. Patients with a history of herpes simplex should undergo slit-lamp examinations frequently, and regular intraocular pressure checks are necessary with long-term administration exceeding 10 days. If inflammation or pain persists or worsens for more than 48 hours, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Contact lens wearers should remove their lenses before instillation and wait at least 30 minutes before reinserting them. Instillation may temporarily blur vision, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided until vision is clear. Coadministration with CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase the risk of systemic side effects, requiring careful observation. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should avoid long-term use, and nursing mothers should refrain from use; if necessary, breastfeeding should be discontinued during administration. Safety for use in infants and young children has not been established, so caution is advised. Elderly patients should be particularly cautious due to decreased physiological functions. This medication is for ophthalmic use only; avoid direct contact of the container tip with the eye. Shake well before use, avoid communal use to prevent contamination, and single-use products must be used immediately after opening, discarding any leftovers. Store in a tightly closed container away from air and moisture, and keep at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C to maintain the medication's effectiveness longer.
