How it is given

Adult administration

Use as prescribed by a doctor, while checking plasma trace elements to guide dosage adjustments. For patients receiving metabolically stable non-oral nutrition solutions, Zinc 2.5 to 4 mg per day, Copper 0.5 to 1.5 mg per day, Manganese 0.15 to 0.8 mg per day, Chromium 10 to 15 μg per day, Selenium 20 to 40 μg per day. For patients in acute burn conditions, administer 4.5 to 6 mg of zinc per day. Other metabolic considerations

Child administration

For pediatric patients under 5 years: Zinc 100μg per kg body weight per day, Copper 20μg per kg body weight per day, Manganese 2 to 10μg per kg body weight per day, Chromium 0.14 to 0.20μg per kg body weight per day, Selenium

Precautions

This drug should not be used in premature infants or newborns because the benzyl alcohol component can cause serious respiratory problems in premature infants. When using this drug, it should be diluted and administered directly to avoid phlebitis, as administering undiluted can cause this issue. Additionally, since this drug is a hypotonic solution, it should only be used for mixed injections. If toxic symptoms occur during the administration of this drug, the administration must be stopped immediately. In particular, patients with impaired kidney function and premature infants are at higher risk of toxicity due to the aluminum component included in this drug if used for a prolonged period. Trace elements such as zinc, copper, manganese, chromium, and selenium included in this drug generally do not show toxicity at normal doses, but the doctor should carefully verify the patient’s condition and required dosage before administration and frequently check blood concentrations. Patients with renal failure are at risk of zinc accumulation in the body, and patients with biliary obstruction may accumulate copper and manganese, so caution is needed. Additionally, diabetic patients should check whether the chromium component affects blood sugar control. The safety of this drug has not been sufficiently validated during pregnancy, so it should only be used in pregnant women or women of childbearing age when the therapeutic benefit outweighs the risk. In cases of overdose, toxic symptoms related to zinc, copper, chromium, and selenium may occur, so caution is advised, and particularly, excessive zinc intake can lead to serious side effects. Immediate appropriate action should be taken if overdose is suspected. This drug should not be used without a doctor’s prescription, and when mixed with non-oral nutritional solutions, sterile conditions must be maintained, and it must be ensured that there is no discoloration or particulates.
