Prevention of vitamin C deficiency and treatment of scurvy, promotion of capillary hemorrhage and bone union
This medication is primarily used for the prevention and treatment of diseases such as scurvy caused by vitamin C deficiency. It is also helpful in situations where the need for vitamin C increases, such as during pregnancy, lactation, and intense physical labor. Additionally, it plays an important role in skin and vascular health, providing relief for symptoms such as capillary bleeding, epistaxis, and gum bleeding. It aids in the recovery of bones by promoting bone matrix formation and union in cases of fractures. It is also effective in improving skin conditions such as melasma, freckles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and photosensitive dermatitis. This medication is used to improve various vitamin C deficiencies and related symptoms.
As ascorbic acid, administer 50 to 1,000 mg per day, split into one to several subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous injections. Adjust as appropriate based on age and symptoms.
Care must be taken when cutting the ampoule container for injection as glass fragments may mix in. Extra caution is needed when using this medication on children and the elderly. Patients with allergies to the ingredients in this medication, hyperoxaluria, thalassemia, gout, cystinuria, and G6PD deficiency should not use this medication. Patients with oxalate stones in the kidneys should not exceed a dosage of 1g per day. Side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, abdominal cramps, fatigue, flushing, headache, and insomnia may occur when using this medication. Dosages above 1g per day may increase the risk of diarrhea and kidney stones, and doses over 600mg may result in diuretic effects. Patients with G6PD deficiency may experience hemolytic anemia. Excessive dosage can lead to the deposition of urate or oxalate in the urinary tract, causing problems. This medication is usually taken orally, but if gastrointestinal absorption is difficult or in urgent situations, it can be administered by injection, transitioning to oral administration as soon as feasible. Co-administration with certain medications, such as salicylates, may reduce the effectiveness of this drug, so concurrent use should be avoided. Furthermore, high doses may decrease the effect of certain anticoagulants and may affect drug concentrations when used with specific psychiatric medications. During pregnancy, the safety for the fetus is not confirmed, so it should only be used when necessary and high doses above 1g should be avoided. During lactation, it is generally considered safe at standard dosages for the infant. This medication may affect the results of urine or blood tests; inform your physician during testing. In case of overdose, symptoms like diarrhea and kidney stones may arise; discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment if symptoms occur. When administered by injection, there may be pain at the injection site; switching injection sites and slowing the injection speed is recommended. Special care is needed, particularly when administering to newborns or young children. Store this medication out of reach of children, avoiding direct sunlight and in a dry place. Additionally, it should be stored in its original container to prevent misuse or quality degradation.
