Mucolytic and expectorant therapy for acute and chronic respiratory diseases
This medication helps to thin the mucus caused by acute and chronic respiratory diseases, making it easier to expel phlegm. This promotes smooth removal of mucus from the airways, aiding comfortable breathing. It helps relieve the patient's respiratory symptoms and maintain a pleasant breathing environment. Therefore, this medicine is used for mucolysis and expectoration in acute and chronic respiratory diseases.
Adults: Administer 300mg per dose orally 2~3 times daily as erdosteine. When administered for acute respiratory disease, do not administer continuously for more than 10 days.
This medicine should not be used by anyone allergic to this medicine or its components. It should not be administered to individuals with liver cirrhosis or those lacking specific enzymes, as this can interfere with the metabolism of a substance called methionine in the body. Patients with peptic ulcers should also not take this medicine, and it should not be used in cases of severely impaired kidney function or significantly reduced liver function. Patients with mild to moderate liver impairment should use this medicine cautiously, ensuring the daily dosage does not exceed 300mg. Overdose may lead to symptoms such as excessive sweating, dizziness, and facial flushing. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as headache, cold-like symptoms, dyspnea, taste disturbances, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and heartburn may also appear. Allergic reactions such as hives, red spots, and eczema can occur on the skin, so caution is advised. Additionally, fatigue, dyspepsia, palpitations, swelling of the face or body, itching, lethargy, drowsiness, and rash have been reported, although a direct relationship with this medicine is not certain. Caution should be exercised when taking this drug together with expectorants or cough medicines, as this may lead to a higher risk of bronchial infections and bronchial constriction due to cough relief preventing effective phlegm expulsion. Pregnant women, those who may become pregnant, and breastfeeding individuals should avoid this medication until its safety has been adequately confirmed.
