Treatment effect for recurrent acute otitis media and acute sinusitis.
This medication is used to treat recurrent or persistent acute otitis media and acute sinusitis in pediatric patients. It is particularly suitable for children who have received antibiotics for acute otitis media or acute sinusitis within the last 3 months, those under 2 years of age, or those attending daycare. It effectively targets certain bacteria, such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis, to treat infections. This medicine is used to improve the symptoms of these conditions and assist in recovery.
There is no experience using this medication in adults. To minimize the possibility of gastrointestinal discomfort, it should be administered at the beginning of meals.
For pediatric patients over 3 months: Based on amoxicillin content (600 mg/5 mL), 90 mg/kg/day is administered in divided doses every 12 hours. For acute otitis media, administer for 10 days; for acute sinusitis, administer for 7 days.
This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame and should not be used by patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria. Patients with allergies to the ingredients or beta-lactam antibiotics, those with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, patients with a history of liver dysfunction, and those who are lactose intolerant should not be administered this medication. Pregnant women or nursing mothers must decide cautiously under a doctor's guidance when using this medication, as it may cause diarrhea or rash in the baby while breastfeeding. Infants under 3 months should not use this medication as safety has not been established. This medication can interact with other drugs, so patients must inform their healthcare provider of any current medication, especially when used with anticoagulants or other antibiotics. During treatment, various side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, rash, and contact dermatitis may occur, and if symptoms are severe, the medication should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. Regular tests may be required to monitor liver function and detect any severe allergic reactions, blood disorders, renal issues, etc. Prompt treatment is necessary if symptoms arise. Before use, shake well, and refrigerate after preparation, consuming within 7 days for safety. Keep out of reach of children and store in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius. This medication is ineffective against viral infections and should only be used for bacterial infections; adherence to the doctor's directives during treatment is essential to prevent the development of resistant bacteria.
