Treatment of infections (respiratory, genitourinary, skin, etc.), gonorrhea, and early Lyme disease
Cefuroxime is an effective antibiotic against various bacterial infections, very stable to beta-lactamases, and effective against ampicillin and amoxicillin-resistant strains. This medication is used for treating upper respiratory infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis, as well as lower respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis and pneumonia. It is also utilized for treatment of urinary tract infections such as pyelonephritis, cystitis, and urethritis, and is used for skin and soft tissue infections including furunculosis, impetigo, and purulent dermatitis. This medication is effective for treating gonorrhea and early Lyme disease. Cefuroxime demonstrates broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against various gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and anaerobic strains, making it a reliable option for treating infections. Thus, cefuroxime is used to effectively improve various infections.
