Relief of perennial allergic rhinitis, chronic urticaria, and pruritus (such as eczema)
This medicine is used to relieve itching associated with perennial allergic rhinitis, chronic urticaria, and skin conditions such as eczema or dermatitis. It helps improve the uncomfortable symptoms experienced by patients, enhancing their quality of life.
Usually, adults are given 10mg of bepotastine besilate orally twice daily. The dose may be adjusted appropriately according to age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used by patients who are hypersensitive to any of its components. Particular caution is required for patients with impaired kidney function, those with weakened liver function, and elderly patients. Taking this medication may cause neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, headache, and dizziness, as well as gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Changes in blood parameters, increased liver function tests, and skin rashes have also been reported. Since this medication can induce drowsiness, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery while taking it. If a patient has been on long-term steroid treatment, careful management is needed when adjusting steroid doses while taking this medication. Patients with decreased kidney function may experience increased blood concentrations of this medication, so starting with a lower dose and adjusting if adverse symptoms occur is necessary. For seasonal allergic rhinitis patients, it is preferable to initiate and terminate treatment at appropriate times considering the season. If the medication does not show effectiveness, prolonged use is not recommended. As with other antihistamines, taking this medication with alcohol may exacerbate side effects, so excessive drinking should be avoided. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should avoid using this medication, and if necessary, it should be carefully considered in consultation with a physician. Breastfeeding women should also avoid taking this medication if possible. The safety of this medication in children has not been fully established, so caution is needed in use. Elderly patients should be particularly cautious due to the potential for prolonged retention of the medication in the body due to decreased kidney function. When performing skin reaction tests for allergy testing, it is advisable to refrain from taking this medication before the tests as it may affect the results. This medication should be taken out of the packaging before use, and care should be taken not to swallow the packaging. Finally, store this medication out of reach of children and in a cool, dry place.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent exposure to air and moisture. The storage temperature should be maintained between 1°C and 30°C, avoiding extremely hot or cold conditions.
