Treatment of essential hypertension and heart failure (intolerance to ACE inhibitors), reducing the risk of mortality following myocardial infarction
This medication is used for essential hypertension and heart failure, particularly in patients with heart failure who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors. It also helps reduce the risk of mortality in clinically stable patients with left ventricular failure or left ventricular systolic dysfunction after myocardial infarction. Therefore, it is effectively used for hypertension management, improvement of heart failure symptoms, and enhancement of safety after myocardial infarction.
1. Essential Hypertension: Take with water during or between meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day if possible. - Adults: It is recommended to take 80 mg orally once daily. - If blood pressure is poorly controlled, the dose may be increased to 160 mg daily, and up to a maximum of 320 mg. - Elderly patients (75 years and older): Start with 40 mg once daily.
The safety and efficacy in children and adolescents under 18 years have not been established.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with an allergic reaction to this medication, pregnant or nursing women, patients with severe liver or kidney disease, and patients with a history of hereditary angioedema should not take this medication. Caution is advised for elderly patients, patients with high potassium levels, and patients with mildly impaired liver function, as this medication may lower blood pressure too much, so the dosage should be increased slowly. During the use of this medication, side effects such as dizziness, fatigue, headache, cough, diarrhea may occur, and rarely severe allergic reactions or renal function decline. In case of abnormal symptoms, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary. If blood pressure drops rapidly, use should be discontinued, and appropriate treatment should be sought, especially in patients taking diuretics or with fluid depletion. This medication may interact when taken with other antihypertensives or potassium-sparing diuretics, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), so patients should inform healthcare professionals of all medications currently being taken. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not take this medication, and nursing mothers are also advised to avoid this medication. It is recommended not to use this medication in children and adolescents under 18 years of age, as its safety and efficacy have not been established. In case of overdose, severe hypotension and decreased consciousness may occur, requiring immediate medical treatment, and vomiting or hemodialysis will not be helpful. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to other containers is discouraged to maintain quality. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and serum potassium levels during the use of this medication is important to ensure there are no abnormalities.
