Precautions

This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic belonging to the penicillin group and should not be administered to certain patients. In particular, patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to this drug's components, penicillin, or cephalosporin medications should not receive it. Patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia are at a higher risk of rashes and should preferably avoid using it. Patients who have had liver dysfunction or jaundice in the past due to this drug or penicillin should also avoid its use. For patients with liver or kidney dysfunction, this medication may worsen the condition and should be used with caution. Those with allergic predisposition or who are prone to allergic symptoms such as asthma and urticaria should also be careful. Patients who have difficulty taking orally, elderly people, or those in poor general condition should be cautious, as they may exhibit symptoms of vitamin K deficiency. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases or severe vomiting or diarrhea may not absorb the drug properly. While taking this drug, various gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and loss of appetite may occur, and in severe cases, serious conditions such as pseudomembranous colitis may arise. If symptoms worsen, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Symptoms of liver dysfunction may also occur, making liver function testing necessary, particularly in individuals over 60 years old or males, as they may occur more frequently. Rash, itching, severe skin reactions, or anaphylactic shock may occur rarely, so if any unusual symptoms appear, discontinue the medication and visit the hospital. Blood-related issues such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia may also arise, requiring blood tests when used long-term. Central nervous system symptoms may include restlessness, anxiety, drowsiness, headaches, and rarely seizures, so caution is needed for patients with poor kidney function or those receiving high-dose treatments. Acute renal failure or nephritis has been reported rarely, so regular kidney function tests are necessary. This drug may affect intestinal bacterial balance, causing conditions like candidiasis or stomatitis due to dysbiosis. A tendency for bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency can develop, so caution is warranted if bleeding symptoms appear. Before administration, history of allergies to penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics must be verified. Anaphylactic shock may occur rarely, so patients should be closely monitored after administration, and preparations for emergency care should be ready. Prolonged use of this drug may lead to resistant bacteria, so it should only be used for the minimum necessary duration. Additionally, this drug may interact with other medications, so patients taking anticoagulants, anti-inflammatory drugs, oral contraceptives, or immunosuppressants should consult with their doctor or pharmacist. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult their physician before using this medication, especially during the first three months of pregnancy. During breastfeeding, this medication may be transmitted in part through breast milk, which could cause unusual reactions such as diarrhea or skin rashes in infants; therefore, caution is needed. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age or those weighing less than 40 kg. Elderly patients may exhibit unusual reactions more easily due to decreased bodily functions, thus the dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and used carefully. Finally, this drug should be stored in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, and in case of overdose, gastrointestinal and neurological symptoms may occur, necessitating immediate medical treatment.
