This medication is a very potent diuretic, and in cases of overdose, it can lead to a deficiency of body fluids and electrolytes, so regular examinations should be conducted to adjust the dosage. Be cautious when opening the vial of the injection as glass fragments may enter, especially when used in children or the elderly. It should not be used in individuals allergic to this medication or those with specific kidney or liver diseases, hypotension, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients with difficulty in urination may experience discomfort when taking this medication, therefore careful observation is required during initial treatment. Patients with low blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, gout, liver cirrhosis, and impaired kidney function must be given special attention when administering this medication, and regular monitoring is necessary. While taking this medication, sodium, potassium levels, and kidney function should be regularly checked to avoid electrolyte imbalance or dehydration. There is an increased risk of death when this medication is used in combination with certain psychiatric medications, so consultation with a physician is essential before concomitant use. This medication can cause a variety of side effects, including electrolyte abnormalities, low blood pressure, kidney issues, gastrointestinal disturbances, liver dysfunction, skin rashes, and hearing impairment, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare personnel immediately. Since this medication can rapidly lower blood pressure, caution is needed during dangerous activities such as driving or operating machinery. There are many interactions with other medications, especially when used in conjunction with specific antibiotics, antipsychotics, antihypertensives, thyroid medications, and lithium preparations, so follow physician guidance. During pregnancy, it should not be used unless absolutely necessary as it may affect the fetus, and while breastfeeding, this medication can be secreted in breast milk and affect the baby, hence it should not be taken. In children and the elderly, dosages should be adjusted and administered cautiously, particularly in premature infants and the elderly where the risk of side effects is higher. When administering intravenously, it should be done slowly, and any adverse reactions at the injection site should be closely monitored. In cases of overdose, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, severe hypotension, and cardiac arrhythmias can occur, so immediate medical treatment is required.
