This medication is used to relieve various symptoms of colds including runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, throat pain, cough, phlegm, chills, fever, headache, joint pain, and muscle pain.

How to take

Adult dose

For ages 15 and older and adults: Take 2 capsules three times daily, 30 minutes after meals.

Precautions

This medicine may burden the liver, so individuals who regularly consume more than three drinks a day must consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking it. The acetaminophen component in this medicine can rarely cause serious skin rashes or allergic reactions, so if any abnormal skin reactions occur after taking it, stop taking it immediately. The maximum daily dosage of acetaminophen should not exceed 4,000 mg, and care must be taken not to combine it with other products containing acetaminophen. Additionally, the pseudoephedrine component included in this medication can cause severe skin reactions, so if symptoms such as fever, skin rash, or small blisters appear, stop taking it immediately and consult a professional. This medication should not be taken by individuals with allergies to specific ingredients or those who have a history of asthma, infants under 3 months old, those taking certain antidepressants or psychiatric medications, or individuals with severe hypertension or kidney disease. It is safest not to take cough medications, other cold medications, pain relievers, sedatives, or antihistamines while using this medication. Children, especially those under the age of 15 or infants, must consult a doctor before use, and should avoid taking it if they have certain symptoms. If symptoms such as rashes, itching, vomiting, dizziness, or difficulty breathing occur while taking this medication, stop taking it immediately and consult medical personnel. This medication must be taken according to the prescribed method and dosage, and it is important not to use it for an extended period and to avoid alcohol. Drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, so driving or operating machinery should be avoided, and caution should be exercised regarding interactions with other medications.

Serious side effects

  • Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, cold sweat, paleness → related to shock (anaphylaxis)
  • Severe rash with high fever, blisters, peeling skin, pain in mouth/eye mucous membranes → Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis
  • Difficulty breathing or breathing problems, asthma attacks, cough + breathing difficulties with fever → interstitial pneumonia, asthma
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme fatigue → liver dysfunction

Mild side effects

Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, swelling, difficulty urinating, thirst, dizziness, anxiety, tremors, insomnia, rash, redness, itching, fever, high anion gap metabolic acidosis (HAGMA)

Interactions

Drug interactions

Do not take with oral medications containing cough suppressants, other cold remedies, pain relievers, sedatives, or antihistamines. Do not take this medicine if you are currently taking an MAO inhibitor or have stopped taking one within the last 2 weeks. Consult your doctor or pharmacist when taking alongside diabetes medications, gout medications, arthritis medications, anticoagulants, steroids, barbiturates, or tricyclic antidepressants.

Food interactions

Do not consume alcohol while taking this medication.

This medication should be stored in a sealed container to prevent air or moisture from entering. It is best to maintain storage temperatures between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius.
