Efficacy & effects

Improvement of nutritional status through trace element supply

View approved original text

By appropriately supplying trace elements such as zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, and chromium during parenteral nutrition, this product helps to maintain the balance of trace elements in the body and supports normal physiological functions. These trace elements play an important role in metabolism, immune function, and antioxidant activity, making them essential for improving nutritional status. Therefore, supplying trace elements during parenteral nutrition aids in the patient's overall recovery and health maintenance.

How it is given

Adult administration

Used according to doctor's prescription, adjusting dosage based on serum trace element levels. For metabolically stable patients receiving parenteral nutrition, zinc 2.5-4 mg per day, Copper 0.5-1.5 mg per day, Manganese 0.15-0.8 mg per day, Chromium 10-15 μg per day, Selenium 20-40 μg per day should be administered. Precautions

This medication should not be administered to premature infants or neonates because it contains benzyl alcohol, which can cause serious respiratory issues in premature infants. When using this medication, it must not be injected in an undiluted form. Undiluted drug can cause phlebitis. This medication is a hypotonic solution and must only be used as a mixed injection. Issues may arise if administered alone. If any toxic symptoms from any component occur during medication administration, the administration should be stopped immediately. Parenteral nutrition solutions contain aluminum, which can accumulate toxicity in patients with impaired renal function, especially in immature neonates requiring long-term administration. Before administration, the doctor must accurately evaluate the patient's condition and metabolic requirements, and frequently check the serum trace element concentrations. Patients with renal failure are cautioned as zinc can accumulate in the body. Patients with biliary obstruction should be cautious as copper and manganese can accumulate in the body. Chromium is primarily excreted through the kidneys, and diabetic patients should check whether they are taking diabetes medications when using this product. Selenium dosage may need adjustment when administered to patients with impaired renal and gastrointestinal function, and it can also affect transfusion patients. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, and it should only be administered to pregnant women or women who may become pregnant if absolutely necessary and with caution. Excessive dosing may lead to toxic symptoms of zinc, copper, chromium, and selenium; therefore, dosage should be strictly adhered to. When using this medication, maintain sterile conditions and ensure there is no discoloration or presence of particulates in the solution. Storage should be in a cool, dry place at room temperature and kept out of reach of children. Transferring to other containers can cause quality degradation or accidents and should be avoided.
