This medication is used to treat essential hypertension and is effective in heart failure patients who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors. Additionally, it helps reduce the risk of mortality in stable myocardial infarction patients accompanied by left ventricular failure or systolic dysfunction, as assessed by symptoms or radiological findings. It is used for hypertension control, improvement of heart failure symptoms, and increased survival after myocardial infarction.

How to take

Adult dose

1. Essential Hypertension - Adults: It is recommended to take 80 mg orally once daily. - In case of poor blood pressure control, the dosage can be increased up to 160 mg once daily, and a maximum of 320 mg can be achieved. - Elderly patients (over 75 years): Start at 40 mg once daily. - Patients with renal impairment (creatinine clearance 10 to 20 mL/min) and those dehydrated: Start at 40 mg once daily.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It is unsafe to use this drug in pregnant or potentially pregnant women and breast-feeding mothers. It should not be administered to patients with severe liver impairment, severe kidney disease, or a history of certain angioedema. Elderly patients, those with high potassium levels, and patients with moderate liver impairment should use this drug with extra caution. During treatment, there is a risk of sudden drops in blood pressure causing dizziness or fainting, so treatment should start with a low dose and the patient's condition should be carefully monitored. Patients with weak kidney function, heart failure, or those taking diuretics should have their blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels checked regularly. This drug may interact with other antihypertensive agents or certain diuretics and potassium-sparing diuretics, so consulting a doctor or pharmacist is necessary. Any unusual symptoms such as muscle pain, rash, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing should be reported to a healthcare professional immediately. Safety and effectiveness in children and teenagers under 18 years have not been sufficiently established, so its use is not recommended. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, decreased consciousness, or shock may occur, requiring immediate emergency care. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and not transferred to another container.
