Precautions

This drug alleviates symptoms of overactive bladder. However, it should not be used by individuals with urinary retention symptoms, severe gastrointestinal disorders such as toxic megacolon, severe myasthenia gravis patients, patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, and those with known allergies to this drug or its components. Additionally, it should not be administered to patients receiving hemodialysis, those with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, and individuals with certain genetic metabolic disorders. This medication should be cautiously used in individuals at risk for urinary retention or with obstructive gastrointestinal diseases or decreased gastrointestinal motility, and dosage adjustments may be necessary for those with moderate to severe renal or hepatic impairment. In particular, the maximum dosage should be limited when taken with strong CYP3A4 enzyme inhibitors. Side effects such as dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, urinary retention, dry eyes may occur while using this medication, and the frequency of side effects increases with higher doses. Additionally, serious allergic reactions such as angioedema or anaphylaxis may occur rarely, requiring immediate discontinuation of the drug and medical attention if symptoms develop. Caution should be taken when driving or operating machinery due to symptoms such as drowsiness or blurred vision. Drug interactions may enhance the effects or worsen the side effects when used with other anticholinergic medications, and may reduce the effectiveness of drugs that increase gastrointestinal motility. This medication is metabolized by CYP3A4 enzymes, so caution is required when co-administering strong CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers. The safety of this drug has not been established during pregnancy, so caution is advised if administered, and it should be avoided during breastfeeding as it may be excreted in breast milk and harm the infant. Safety and effectiveness in pediatrics have not been established, so its use is not recommended. In the case of overdose, central nervous system symptoms, blurred vision, thirst may occur, and appropriate emergency treatment may be necessary. Patients with heart diseases or those at risk of QT prolongation should be particularly cautious of cardiac side effects in cases of overdose.
