Efficacy & effects

Improvement of nutritional status through trace element supply

View approved original text

This medication helps to maintain a balanced nutritional status by supplementing trace elements such as zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, and chromium, which the body requires during intravenous nutrition. These trace elements are essential for normal metabolic functions and immune functions, thus playing a significant role in improving the patient's nutrition. Therefore, this medication is used to prevent and improve trace element deficiencies in patients receiving intravenous nutrition.

How it is given

Adult administration

Use according to a physician's prescription, checking plasma trace element levels to guide dosage adjustments. For metabolically stable parenteral nutrition patients: zinc 2.5-4mg per day, copper 0.5-1.5mg, manganese 0.15-0.8mg, chromium 10-15μg, selenium 20-40μg. Precautions

This product contains benzyl alcohol, which can cause life-threatening respiratory problems in premature infants, and should not be used in newborns or premature infants. Administering this medication directly into the vein without dilution may cause phlebitis, so it must always be diluted before use. Since this is a hypo-osmotic solution, it can only be used for mixed injections and should not be administered alone. If any toxic symptoms appear from any component of the medication, administration must be immediately stopped. Parenteral nutrition solutions contain aluminum, which may cause toxicity when administered for a long period to patients with impaired kidney function or premature infants, so caution is necessary. Before administration, the physician must accurately assess the patient's condition and metabolic requirements, and frequently check serum trace element concentrations to adjust the dosage. Patients with renal failure may have difficulties excreting zinc, causing accumulation in the body, so caution is required. Patients with biliary obstruction may have difficulties excreting copper and manganese, resulting in accumulation in the body, and should be monitored closely. Chromium is primarily excreted through the kidneys, and for diabetic patients, interactions with diabetic medications must be taken into account. Selenium requires dose adjustments in patients with impaired kidney and gastrointestinal functions, and the effects of transfusions should also be considered in patients who have received blood transfusions. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, thus should only be administered to pregnant women or those potentially pregnant when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks. Excessive doses may lead to toxicity symptoms of zinc, copper, chromium, selenium, etc., so the dosage must be strictly adhered to, and if toxicity symptoms are suspected, consult medical staff immediately. This product must be used according to a physician's prescription, and when added to parenteral nutrition solutions, sterile conditions must be maintained. Prior to administration, ensure the solution is not discolored or contains particles, and store it in a dry, cool place away from children.
