This medication helps to lower cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia (familial and non-familial) and mixed dyslipidemia, and to raise HDL-cholesterol levels. It is used in conjunction with diet to improve total cholesterol, LDL, ApoB, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol. It is also used as a lipid-modifying medication to reduce the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease caused by hypercholesterolemia. Before using the medication, other causes of dyslipidemia, such as diabetes and hypothyroidism, should be identified and treated, and it is prescribed as an adjunct when dietary and non-drug measures are insufficient. It is important to monitor the treatment effects by measuring the patient’s blood lipid levels. This medication is used to improve hypercholesterolemia and enhance cardiovascular health.
