Improvement of nutritional status through trace element supply
When providing nutrition by intravenous infusion, trace elements such as zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, and chromium help maintain nutritional balance and normal bodily functions. These trace elements are essential for various physiological functions such as enhancing immunity, wound healing, and reducing oxidative stress, and deficiencies can lead to various complications. Therefore, supplying trace elements during intravenous nutrition plays a critical role in a patient's health recovery and functional improvement.
Use as prescribed by a physician, adjusting the dosage according to the plasma trace element levels. - For patients receiving stable non-oral nutritional infusion: Zinc: 2.5-4mg per day Copper: 0.5-1.5mg per day Manganese: 0.15-0.8mg per day Chromium: 10-15µg per day Selenium: 20-40µg per day - Others: Patients with stable small bowel fluid loss: Additional 12.2mg/L (fluid loss amount)
Pediatric patients - Under 5 years: Zinc 100µg/kg body weight per day Copper 20µg/kg body weight per day Manganese 2-10µg/kg body weight per day Chromium 0.14-0.20µg/kg body weight per day Selenium 3µg/kg body weight per day
This medication contains benzyl alcohol, which can cause fatal respiratory symptoms in premature infants, so it should not be used in newborns or premature infants. There is a risk of phlebitis; therefore, do not inject it directly in an undiluted state, and because it is a hypotonic solution, it must be used for mixed injections. If any component of this drug exhibits toxicity, administration should be stopped immediately, especially in patients with impaired renal function or premature infants due to the heightened risk of toxicity from aluminum. Before administration, the physician must confirm the patient's condition and metabolic requirements, and the serum trace element levels should be frequently measured to adjust the dosage. Patients with renal failure may have difficulty excreting zinc, potentially leading to zinc accumulation, and patients with biliary obstruction may accumulate copper and manganese, so caution is required. Patients with diabetes should check whether the chromium component affects glycemic control. Selenium requires dosage adjustment when administered to patients with renal or gastrointestinal dysfunction, and its safety has not been established in pregnant women, so it should only be used when the therapeutic benefit outweighs the risks. Excessive doses may lead to toxicity symptoms from zinc, copper, chromium, selenium, etc., and if symptoms occur, consultation with medical personnel should be sought immediately. This medication must be used according to a physician's prescription, and when added to non-oral nutritional infusions, aseptic conditions must be maintained. Before use, check for discoloration or the presence of particles in the solution, and it should not be used if abnormalities are found.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
