Improvement of blood pressure in essential hypertension not controlled by monotherapy with telmisartan or amlodipine
This medication helps effectively control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty with blood pressure control using telmisartan or amlodipine as monotherapy.
The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet taken once a day with water, regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). For patients with mild to moderate renal impairment, dosage adjustment is not required, but those with severe impairment should start treatment at a lower dosage and gradually increase. For patients with liver impairment, the daily dosage of telmisartan should not exceed 40 milligrams.
The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, therefore the use of this medication is not recommended.
This medication can cause severe harm to the fetus and newborn, especially during the second and third trimesters, and should not be taken by pregnant women or those who may become pregnant. It should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to any active ingredient or similar components, patients with obstructive biliary disease, severe hepatic impairment, extreme hypotension, cardiogenic shock, unstable heart failure after acute myocardial infarction, among others. Patients with primary aldosteronism or those with aortic and mitral stenosis, hepatic impairment, gastrointestinal disorders, renovascular hypertension, dialysis patients, and the elderly should use this medication with caution, particularly when combined with other drugs affecting the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. The most common side effects of this medication include dizziness and peripheral edema, and symptoms of fainting or severe adverse reactions may rarely occur, so immediate consultation with a doctor is necessary if such symptoms appear. Use of this medication during pregnancy can lead to serious side effects such as decreased renal function in the fetus, oligohydramnios, and reduced skull formation, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. As this medication lowers blood pressure, patients at risk of hypotension should check their fluid and electrolyte balance before taking it, and should receive appropriate treatment if symptoms of hypotension occur. Serum potassium levels may increase, so patients with impaired renal function or heart failure should undergo regular blood tests to monitor potassium levels. For patients with decreased renal function, renal function may worsen while taking this medication, so regular blood tests to monitor renal function are necessary. The calcium channel blocker component of this medication may increase the risk of angina or myocardial infarction in patients with severe coronary artery disease, thus caution is warranted. Breastfeeding women should avoid taking this medication, and caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. This medication may interact with other drugs, so consultation with a physician or pharmacist is advisable, especially when taken with digoxin, lithium, warfarin, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and regular monitoring may be necessary. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, abnormal heart rate, dizziness, and acute renal failure may occur, and prompt medical attention should be sought. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children have not been adequately established, so it is not recommended for patients under 18 years of age. Elderly patients may have more sensitive physical responses, so caution is required while taking this medication and dosage adjustments may be necessary. Store the product out of the reach of children, do not transfer it to another container, and open the packaging just before use.
