This medication is effective against key harmful bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis, and is particularly used for the treatment of recurrent or persistent acute otitis media and acute sinusitis. It is particularly suitable for pediatric patients under the age of 2 who have experienced antibiotic treatment for acute otitis media or acute sinusitis within the last 3 months, or those attending daycare. Therefore, this medication is effective for treating acute otitis media and acute sinusitis in children with these risk factors.

How to take

Adult dose

Experience with this medication in adults is lacking. This medication should be taken at the beginning of meals to minimize the potential for gastrointestinal disturbances.

Child dose

For children over 3 months: Based on the amoxicillin content (600 mg/5 mL), take 90 mg/kg/day divided into 12-hour intervals. For acute otitis media, 10 days, for acute sinusitis, 7 days.

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame and should not be used in patients with phenylketonuria. Care should be taken not to exceed the maximum daily intake of aspartame, which is specified for adults. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any component of this medication or beta-lactam antibiotics should not use this medication. Patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphoblastic leukemia are at higher risk for rashes and should avoid this medication. Patients who have experienced liver dysfunction or jaundice in the past due to this drug or penicillin should also refrain from use. Hives, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, fever with severe rash, blisters, skin peeling, painful mucous membranes in mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory issues accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes, extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headaches, lightning bolt headache, seizures, confusion of consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, significantly reduced urine output.

Mild side effects

Contact dermatitis, diarrhea, vomiting, monilia, rash, indigestion, stomatitis, gastritis, glossitis, nausea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, colonic pain, gastric acidity, loose stools, dry mouth, acute pancreatitis, candidiasis, antibiotic-associated colitis, itching, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, vesicular exfoliative dermatitis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, eosinophilia, serum sickness, hypersensitivity.
