Used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet of this medicine orally once a week. Since food may interfere with the absorption of this medicine, take it at least 30 minutes before breakfast or at least 2 hours apart from any food or drink at any other time of the day. Take with a sufficient amount of plain water (170–230 mL) while in an upright position, and do not chew or suck on the tablet. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking.

Precautions

This medicine may irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa, potentially causing esophageal adverse reactions such as esophagitis and esophageal ulcers. Take with a sufficient amount of water, and do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking. If you have issues with the esophagus or experience symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, pain behind the sternum, or heartburn, stop taking immediately and consult a doctor. This medicine should not be administered to patients with esophageal strictures that delay esophageal emptying, those allergic to any component of this medicine, patients with hypocalcemia, or those with severely impaired renal function. Patients with hypersensitivity to Yellow No. 5 should use this medicine with caution. During treatment with this medicine, side effects such as indigestion, nausea, diarrhea, muscle pain, joint pain, headache, or rash may occur, and rarely, serious skin reactions, osteonecrosis of the jaw, or liver function abnormalities have been reported. Metabolic disorders such as hypocalcemia and vitamin D deficiency should be treated before initiating therapy, and it is important to consume adequate calcium and vitamin D. This medicine may be affected by food or medications containing calcium, magnesium, or iron, so it is important to maintain dosing intervals. Women who are pregnant or nursing should avoid taking this medicine, and safety in children has not been established. In cases of overdose, hypocalcemia may occur, and gastric lavage or calcium supplement therapy may be necessary. This medicine should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to another container.

Hives, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain of mucous membranes in the mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory problems accompanied by coughing and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes, jaundice, extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headaches, thunderclap headaches, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, decreased urine output.
