How to take

Precautions

This medication can cause severe lactic acidosis or hypoglycemia, so care should be taken especially if kidney function declines severely. Hives, severe swelling (edema), difficulty breathing, severe edema accompanied by increased blood pressure, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), liver function impairment, severe hypoglycemic symptoms, lactic acidosis, sudden and very severe headaches, visual disturbances, paralysis, seizures, confusion, coma, deep vein thrombosis, cardiac arrest, thrombocytopenic purpura, platelet count below 10,000/μL.

Mild side effects

Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, loss of appetite, indigestion, constipation, abdominal pain, taste disturbance, metallic taste, temporary visual disturbances due to changes in blood sugar levels, erythema, itching, rash, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, hemolytic anemia, erythrocytopenia, agranulocytosis, pancytopenia, vitamin B12 deficiency, elevation of liver enzymes, hepatitis, allergic vasculitis, photosensitivity of the skin, decreased serum sodium concentration.
