This medication helps to prevent and manage asthma. It is also used to relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken once daily; for asthma patients, it should be taken in the evening. For allergic rhinitis patients, the dosing time depends on the patient's condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take one tablet in the evening once daily. Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older should take 10 mg of montelukast orally once daily.

Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis, and there have been reports of neuropsychiatric adverse effects. If symptoms such as anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts occur while taking this medication, consult a doctor immediately. This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, making it unsafe for patients with phenylketonuria. This medication should not be given to patients with certain genetic disorders, such as lactose intolerance or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
