This medicine is effective in the treatment of gastrointestinal ulcers such as gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers and is used to relieve the symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also suitable for long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease. For patients with gastrointestinal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori, the treatment effect can be enhanced when combined with antibiotics. It is helpful for diseases associated with excessive gastric acid secretion, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Overall, it is used to treat inflammation and ulcers of the gastrointestinal tract and improve symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer: Take 10 mg orally once daily, and if symptoms allow, it can be increased to 20 mg once daily. For gastric ulcers, treatment for a maximum of 8 weeks, and for duodenal ulcers, for a maximum of 6 weeks. Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to this drug or its ingredients, or to benzimidazoles. Additionally, it should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the antibiotics combined for the purpose of eradicating Helicobacter pylori. It is also safer not to use this drug in conjunction with certain cardiac-related medications or antiviral agents. Pregnant or nursing women should also not take this drug. Caution is required when administering this drug to patients with liver dysfunction, the elderly, and those with a history of hypersensitivity to medications. If any allergic symptoms such as skin rash, hives, or itching occur during treatment with this drug, use should be stopped immediately. Regular blood tests are recommended as various blood-related abnormalities may occur. Liver function tests should also be done regularly, and if liver issues arise, medication should be discontinued. As it can affect the heart and vascular system, consultation with a healthcare provider is necessary if related symptoms develop. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and nausea may occur. Neurological symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and insomnia can occur, so monitoring is advised. Various side effects such as respiratory symptoms or skin abnormalities and muscle pain have been reported, so it is important to report any abnormal symptoms promptly. Long-term use of this drug may increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, so regular check-ups are needed for prolonged usage. Hypomagnesemia may rarely occur, necessitating monitoring of magnesium levels during long-term use. This drug may inhibit gastric acid secretion and increase the risk of bacterial infections in the stomach, so report to a healthcare provider if diarrhea persists. Caution is also necessary while driving or operating machinery as drowsiness may occur. Be sure to inform healthcare providers of any other medications being taken due to potential interactions.
