This medication is used to prevent and continuously treat asthma. Additionally, it helps alleviate symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis. Therefore, it is effective in improving discomfort caused by asthma and allergic rhinitis.

How to take

Adult dose

Take this medication once a day, preferably in the evening for asthma patients. For allergic rhinitis patients, the dosing time is determined according to the patient's condition. For patients who have both asthma and allergic rhinitis, take one tablet once a day in the evening. Adults and adolescents over 15 years: Montelukast 10 mg once orally every day.

Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis. During treatment with this medication, significant neuropsychiatric disturbances may occur; therefore, patients and caregivers should inform a doctor immediately if symptoms such as anxiety, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts arise. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or lactose intolerance should not take this medication. Various adverse reactions have been reported in adults and adolescents over 15 years old, as well as in children with asthma over 6 months old, which may include headache, fever, abdominal pain, cough, and rash. This medication is not a treatment for acute asthma attacks; therefore, emergency inhalers should be readily available and used as needed. Patients with hypersensitivity to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should avoid these medications while taking this medication. This medication should only be used during pregnancy when absolutely necessary, and extra caution is needed while breastfeeding. This medication can also be safely used in children, but its safety and efficacy have not been established in children under 6 months old. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so it is important to seek general treatment and clinical monitoring if needed. This medication is sensitive to light, so it is advised to open and take it immediately before consumption. Store in a place out of reach of children and do not transfer to another container. During treatment, follow the advice of the prescribing physician, and consult immediately if symptoms worsen or unusual symptoms appear.
