Prevention of asthma and relief of allergic rhinitis symptoms
This medication is used to prevent and treat asthma on a continuous basis. It also helps alleviate symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. Therefore, it effectively manages symptoms caused by asthma and allergic rhinitis.
This medication is to be taken once a day; for asthma patients, it should be taken in the evening, and for allergic rhinitis patients, the dosing time should be determined according to their condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take one tablet in the evening once a day. This medication is administered one hour before or two hours after meals.
Children aged 6 to 14: Take 5 mg of montelukast once a day by chewing. This medication is administered one hour before or two hours after meals.
This medication is used for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis, and neuropsychiatric abnormal symptoms may occur, so patients and guardians should carefully observe for new symptoms or behavioral changes. If severe symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts occur, inform the doctor immediately, and the medication may be discontinued if necessary. This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, and patients with phenylketonuria should avoid taking it, and aspartame intake should be limited to below the recommended level. It should not be administered in cases of allergic reactions or hypersensitivity to this medication's components. For acute asthma attacks, immediate bronchodilators are required, and this medication is not for the treatment of acute symptoms, so emergency medication should always be carried. When used with inhaled corticosteroids, the dosage should be gradually adjusted according to the doctor's instructions, and sudden changes should be avoided. Patients with aspirin hypersensitivity should refrain from using aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs while taking this medication. Eosinophilia and vasculitis symptoms may appear during treatment, so doctors should carefully monitor the patient’s condition. While there are not significant drug interactions with other asthma medications, caution is required when co-administering with certain drugs that induce hepatic metabolic enzymes. Safety during pregnancy has not been fully established, so pregnant women should consult a physician before use, and caution is also necessary during breastfeeding. It can be used in children and elderly patients, but dosing should consider safety and efficacy for each age group. There is no specific antidote for overdose, and general symptomatic treatment and clinical monitoring are necessary. This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be opened just before taking and taken immediately, and stored out of the reach of children. During treatment, regular consultations with a physician should be maintained to ensure asthma symptoms do not worsen, and emergency medications should be used for acute symptoms. Patients with exercise-induced asthma should continue using inhaled β-agonists preventively and always carry a short-acting inhaler for emergencies. If neuropsychiatric symptoms occur during treatment, inform healthcare personnel immediately, and do not reduce or discontinue the dose of other asthma medications arbitrarily.
Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, severe allergic reactions, very rarely cholestatic hepatitis, hepatocellular liver damage, mixed liver damage, liver dysfunction (jaundice), seizures, severe neurological symptoms, vasculitis, severe edema with increased blood pressure, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, suicide, severe skin adverse reactions, respiratory problems.

This medication is susceptible to moisture and light, thus it should be stored at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Also, it is important to store it in a tightly sealed container to prevent air exposure. Storing it this way will help maintain the medication's efficacy for a longer time.
