This medication is used to improve atherosclerotic symptoms in adult patients with ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, or peripheral artery disease. Additionally, it improves atherosclerotic symptoms associated with cardiovascular events such as death, myocardial infarction, stroke, or refractory ischemia in patients with acute coronary syndrome, including those with unstable angina or non-Q wave myocardial infarction, and those who have undergone or will undergo coronary intervention or coronary artery bypass surgery. Furthermore, in adult patients with atrial fibrillation who have vascular risk factors and for whom vitamin K antagonists are not suitable and the risk of bleeding is low, it helps reduce the risk of atherosclerotic thrombosis and thromboembolism, including stroke.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

1. For patients with ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, or peripheral artery disease, administer clopidogrel at a dose of 75 mg once daily orally. 2. For patients with acute coronary syndrome, initiate with a loading dose of 300 mg once daily on the first day, followed by a maintenance dose of 75 mg once daily orally. Precautions

This medication is a drug that prevents platelet aggregation and therefore prevents blood clotting. The efficacy of this drug may be reduced in individuals with genetic deficiencies in a specific enzyme (CYP2C19) in the liver; in such cases, alternative treatment methods should be considered. Additionally, taking medications that activate certain enzymes may increase the concentration of this drug's active ingredient, potentially raising the risk of bleeding; therefore, concurrent use is not recommended. This drug should not be used in patients with specific allergic reactions, those with bleeding issues, patients with severe liver dysfunction, nursing women, and patients with genetic problems such as lactose intolerance. Patients at high risk of bleeding or those with bleeding disorders, patients with impaired liver or kidney function, recent stroke patients, patients with hypertension, elderly patients, and underweight patients should exercise special caution when using this drug. The risk of bleeding may increase when this drug is used with other anticoagulant medications; strict adherence to a physician's instructions is necessary when using these together. If bleeding does not stop or the bleeding site continues to enlarge during therapy, notify a physician immediately, and if surgery is planned, the drug should be discontinued 5-7 days prior to the procedure. It is important to periodically check for bleeding or blood abnormalities through blood tests during treatment with this drug. Women who are pregnant or nursing should consult a physician before taking this medication, as the risk of bleeding may increase during childbirth. This drug has not been established as safe or effective for use in children, so its use is not recommended. In the event of overdose, bleeding times may be prolonged and complications from bleeding may arise, so strict adherence to the recommended dosage is essential; if overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to other containers can cause accidents, so care must be taken.
