Improvement of symptoms in moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease
This medication helps alleviate symptoms in patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. It is used to improve memory decline, cognitive dysfunction, and the deterioration of daily living abilities, enhancing the patient's quality of life.
Treatment must be initiated by a physician experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's dementia, and should only commence if caregivers can periodically confirm the patient's medication adherence. This medication can be taken regardless of food intake. Dose escalation: The maximum daily dose is 20 mg, and to minimize the risk of adverse reactions, the dose should be increased by 5 mg weekly over the first 3 weeks to reach the maintenance dose.
This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to its components or severe hepatic or renal impairment. It also contains lactose, so it should be avoided in patients with genetic lactose intolerance issues. Exercise caution in patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures, as interactions with certain medications can increase the risk of side effects. Careful judgment is required before administration in patients with increased urinary pH, heart disease, or uncontrolled hypertension. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension may occur during treatment, and if symptoms are severe, consult a physician. As there may be drug interactions, it is important to inform your healthcare provider about any medications you are currently taking, as the effects may vary when used with some drugs. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the risks and benefits of using this medication, and breastfeeding women are advised to discontinue breastfeeding. It is recommended not to use this medication in children or adolescents under 18 years of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, hallucinations, and seizures may occur; therefore, seek immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment. This medication can affect the central nervous system, so caution is needed while driving or operating machinery. Lastly, keep this medication out of the reach of children and do not transfer the medication to another container for safety.
