This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes, complementing dietary and exercise therapy.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken 1 to 2 times a day before meals or with meals. The dosage may be adjusted according to the current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability of each patient, with appropriate blood glucose monitoring required. The initial dose is Glimepiride / Metformin Hydrochloride 2 mg/500 mg, and can be gradually increased up to a maximum of 8 mg/2000 mg. When using the monotherapy Glimepiride, the usual dose is more than 4 mg per day.

Precautions

This medication may cause severe lactic acidosis or hypoglycemia, and should be discontinued if kidney function declines sharply. It is advisable to temporarily stop taking this medication and consult a physician if dehydration occurs due to diarrhea, vomiting, or fever. Care should be taken when using this medication in patients with impaired kidney function or those taking medications that may affect the kidneys. Patients with cardiovascular disease should discuss cardiovascular risks with their doctor before and after taking this medication.
