Precautions

This medication is a penicillin-class antibiotic and should not be administered to certain patients. First, patients allergic to any of the components or to beta-lactam antibiotics, especially those who have experienced anaphylactic shock or serious skin reactions in the past, should not use this medication. Also, caution is warranted in patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, as there is a higher risk of rashes. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice should avoid taking this medication as symptoms may recur. Patients with liver dysfunction or moderate to severe kidney dysfunction may experience elevated drug plasma concentrations and should adjust dosing intervals or use with caution. Caution is also necessary for patients with allergies or gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea, the elderly, and those in poor general condition. This medication can cause various side effects in the gastrointestinal system, with diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain being common; serious issues like pseudomembranous colitis or pancreatitis can occur rarely, so if symptoms worsen, immediate cessation of medication and consultation with a physician are required. Various adverse reactions have been reported including liver dysfunction, skin rashes, hypersensitivity, blood abnormalities, and renal function impairment, thus, any unusual symptoms should be promptly reported to healthcare professionals. Particularly, severe allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock can occur rarely, so the patient’s condition should be closely monitored after administration. Furthermore, this medication can affect the intestinal flora and reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives, so caution is necessary if taken together. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should only use this medication after consulting with a physician, as its use may affect the fetus or infant. Especially, it is advisable to avoid use during the first three months of pregnancy. For children, use is recommended only in those aged 12 years or older or weighing more than 40 kg; caution is warranted for younger ages and lower weights due to limited experience. The elderly have a higher risk of side effects due to renal and liver function decline, thus dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and used with caution. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal disturbances, renal failure, seizures, and allergic reactions may occur, therefore the prescribed dosage and administration must be adhered to, and immediate medical assistance is required in case of overdose. Lastly, this medication should be stored in a closed container to prevent moisture and maintained at a cool temperature between 1 and 25 degrees Celsius.
