Precautions

This drug is a penicillin-class antibiotic and should not be used in patients with specific allergic reactions. Special caution is required for those with a history of severe allergies, such as anaphylaxis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome. It is also advisable not to administer it to patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia due to a higher risk of rash. Caution should also be exercised for individuals with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice, as symptoms may reoccur with its use. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function may experience elevated drug concentrations, requiring dosage adjustments or careful monitoring. Those with allergic tendencies, elderly patients, and those with poor nutritional status should also be cautious, as there is a risk of side effects like vitamin deficiency. Gastrointestinal side effects such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting may occur, and in severe cases, serious colitis like pseudomembranous colitis may develop; if symptoms arise, it is essential to stop taking the medication immediately. Liver function abnormalities have been reported rarely, and they may be more frequent in elderly or male patients, necessitating liver function tests during long-term use. Serious allergic reactions such as skin rash, urticaria, and anaphylactic shock can occur, requiring immediate medical attention if symptoms appear. Rare hematological reactions such as leukopenia and thrombocytopenia may occur, so periodic blood tests are recommended. Central nervous system symptoms like anxiety, confusion, and seizures can occur rarely, requiring consultation with medical staff if symptoms arise. There may be a sudden decline in kidney function, necessitating regular kidney function tests, with discontinuation if abnormalities are noted. This medication can disrupt the balance of intestinal flora, leading to fungal infections such as candidiasis, as well as bleeding risks due to vitamin K deficiency, so caution is advised. Women in early pregnancy or breastfeeding should consult a doctor before using this medication, as it may affect the fetus or newborn. Use in children, particularly those under 12 years of age or weighing less than 40 kg, is not recommended due to limited experience. Elderly patients have a higher risk of side effects due to decreased physiological functions and should be monitored closely for dosage and timing adjustments. Interactions may occur when used with other medications, so it is important to inform the doctor of any other medications being taken, particularly anticoagulants or other antibiotics. Overdose may result in gastrointestinal symptoms, rash, and seizures; in such cases, it is essential to stop taking the medication immediately and seek medical care. This medication should be stored in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, and if any unusual symptoms occur during use, it is important to consult a medical professional immediately.
